NBR Nitrile

NBR (Nitrile), chemically, is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile. When the content of NBR increases, resistance to petroleum base oils and hydrocarbon fuels increases, but flexibility at low temperatures decreases.

Due to its excellent resistance to petroleum-based products and its ability to be mixed for use within a temperature range of up to 130°C, nitrile rubber is currently the most widely used elastomer in gasket manufacturing.

Nitrile products: characteristics and applications

NBR products must be protected from direct sunlight. However, this can be improved through compounding. NBR is the most widely used standard material in the hydraulic and pneumatic sectors.

Please note that it is often necessary to sacrifice some high-temperature resistance to achieve good low-temperature resistance. Nitrile-based products are better than most elastomers in terms of compression and abrasion resistance. NBR products do not have good resistance to ozone, sunlight, or weathering.

In the automotive industry, NBR is used for water treatment applications and flexible hoses, seals, and rubber stoppers for fuel and oil treatment. NBR materials are suitable for all automotive applications with a temperature range from -40 to +125 °C.

In addition, due to its resilience, this synthetic rubber is the ideal material for disposable gloves for laboratory, cleaning, and examination purposes.
